WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A STEP DECK
Mind the Deck Height
Step decks sit ~40 inches at the upper deck and ~24 inches at the lower — verify the lower deck height clears your tallest freight and any low-clearance routes.
Check the Ramps
Ramps are essential for equipment loading. Confirm they're included, undamaged, and stow properly — replacement ramps run $1,500–$3,000.
Axle Configuration Matters
Tandem is standard; spread-axle carries more weight legally but rides rougher. Match the axle setup to your typical loads and state weight laws.
